Other Fics - Perfect christmas

My face dropped as my husband explained that we were to be visiting his parents for Christmas day. "You have got to be kidding me!" I exclaimed, as his face dropped from a smile into a frown. ", sweetie, our child should have been born a week ago, so, is due any hour probably, well, hopefully. I can hardly move, I'm antankerous, and your parent's don't live anywhere near a hospital!" I stressed the last part, and sighed, looking up at his disappointed face.
"I thought you wanted the baby at home!" he cried, soft tears running down his face "Yes, at first, and our home, here" I explained, resting his hand onto my stomach, "but, after the scare; and the other complications. You know that the midwife advised us not too, and I want this birth to go as smoothly as possible" holding his hand onto my stomach, I saw his face melt. "We'll go as soon as the baby has been born?" I suggested, but he still looked disappointed.
"Ok, I guess I'll phone mum, and tell her, everyone was looking forward to having us there though," he looked upset, a large part of me wanted to go, another part of me was worried about our child. The rest of me felt really bad about making do this, his parent's had been really helpful to us throughout the pregnancy, ahh well, let him stew for a little bit. I looked up to his face, telling that he really wanted to go, "Oh, come on! I'm using the puppy eyes, cute smile, and hopeless 'I am a lost child and have no where to go' face that keeps all of the teenie's happy" he shuddered on the last few words, and wrapped his arms around me from behind. "You're still beautiful," he whispered, kissing the top of my head.
"Paying me compliments isn't going to get you anywhere, boyo"
"I love you…"
"I love you too, but" I trailed off, and looked into his eyes, "oh, ok, ok, for goodness sakes, we'll go to your parents! But don't you dare even suggest that we take the Porsche, we're taking the Z5" I said harshly, "Come on, you can help me pack"
"Understood, I love you "
"Love you too, " I smiled, as he began to flick the dishwasher button on and off "Stop that," I said sharply
"As soon as you have the baby, the bloody better" he mumbled
"I know, I know, I'm sorry" I smiled, as he leaned into kiss me, I returned the lean, and let my lips run across his.

Five hours, three toilet stops, and some quick packing later, stopped the car outside of his parents' house in Woodbridge. I smiled as opened the door, and watched as he walked across the snow covered gravel drive, I stepped out of the car, and smiled as he wrapped his arms around his brother, before coming over to me, and laughed.
"When's my niece or nephew arriving then?"
"The sooner, the bloody better!" I said strained, holding my hand at the base of my stomach, " , I'm going to head on in, will you two be able to manage?"
"Sure will!" laughed, "Mum, and are in the kitchen, they're helping mum stuff the turkey, " he explained, briefly kissing me on the cheek "be careful with the snow, it's slippery on the stone floor as you go in"
"Cheer's ," I smiled, as I walked into the house, hung my coat up on the coat hooks by the front door, and smiled as I saw the huge Christmas tree lit up in the corner of the room, the base of it surrounded in presents. I continued through to the kitchen, smiling as my mother, and two sisters in law surrounded me.
", you are positively glowing!" she cried, placing her hand on my shoulder. ", ,; and are here!" she said with a raised voice "come on love, sit down, you must be tired!" she smiled, "would you like a drink?"
"No thanks, I'm fine, just wish this one would hurry up, and be born already!"
"You must be at least a week over due!"
"Eight days," I sighed,
"Well, knowing it's father, and how awkward he is, he or she will probably show up tomorrow!"
"Please no," I whimpered, holding my hand to my stomach as pain ripped through me.
"Are you ok?" asked as he came through the door
"No," I whimpered, as he rushed over to me,
" , I'll call an ambulance," said calmly, walking off to the phone.

Twelve hours later, Christmas Day; 5 am.
"Come on , one last push, a little bit more, come on , you're nearly there, one last push," The midwife said calmly,
"Arrrghhhhhhhhh" I cried as the next contraction came, pushing hard, looked down at me concerned, then to the midwife as he heard a cry.
"Merry Christmas, you have a perfectly happy, and healthy baby boy," the midwife smiled, resting him on my chest
"Merry Christmas, mummy" smiled, looking down at his son
"Merry Christmas, daddy" I said softly, gently rocking our son back and forth.
